What means windows share hosted on a Netapp?
NFS, Samba(cifs), which version, which authentification mechanism, mount command, error message...?
NetApp uses CIFS to provide access to the files/folders.
It`s joined to the domain and acts as a windows server.
Data ONTAP CIFS services support four styles of user authentication.
Choose the one from the list below that best suits your situation.
(1) Active Directory domain authentication (Active Directory domains only)
(2) Windows NT 4 domain authentication (Windows NT or Active Directory domains)
(3) Windows Workgroup authentication using the filer's local user accounts
(4) /etc/passwd and/or NIS/LDAP authentication
We use (1)
The problem is that I have not access to the AIX system.

the NetApp admin has clone one file system from one red hatserver and presented this cloned LUN into another redhat server.
I can see the LUN as:
fdisk -l

I've been using AIX cifs to mount windows XP shares with no problems till now.
Now it's Windows Server 2008 R2 - no go:
mount -v cifs -n host1/user1/pass1 /share1 /mountpt1
