users - print the user names of users currently logged in to the current host
SYNOPSIS
users [OPTION]... [FILE]
DESCRIPTION
Output who is currently logged in according to FILE. If FILE is not specified, use /var/run/utmp. /var/log/wtmp as FILE is common.
--help display this help and exit
--version
output version information and exit

I'm trying to execute a single shell command that will give me a sorted list of all the users currently logged into the system, displaying the users name as it appears in /etc/passwd.
I've tried
awk -F: '{print $1}' /etc/passwd | xargs finger -s | cut -c11-28 | uniq

Hi there,
I'm a beginner with UNIX and have to manage a set of 15 users. The problem we have is that there are only 15 licenses for these users, so occasionally they get locked out and can't log back on.
I've been using the ps -ef|grep command to check the users, as well as the w commnand,... (6 Replies)

I am trying to get the logged in users with the 'users' command, but I am having difficulty in making the name of users to appear only ONCE even if they are currenly logged in more than one terminal.

Hi everyone,
There are couple of users of which i need to give 2 of the users admin rights so that they are able to run the administration commands like "zoneadm" and locale.
