ypmatch - print the values of one or more keys from a NIS map
SYNOPSYS
ypmatch [ -kt ] [ -d domain ] key ... mapname
ypmatch -x
DESCRIPTION
ypmatch prints the values of one or more keys from the NIS database specified by mapname, which may be a map name or a map nickname.
OPTIONS -d domain
Specify a domain other than the default domain as returned by domainname(1).
-k Display map keys. This option is useful with maps in which the values are null or the key is not part of the value.
-t This option inhibits map nickname translation.
-x Display the map nickname translation table.

Hello,
We can get the full info by typing:
ypmatch username passwd
aaaa : yyyy: ... ... : LastName Gname : ... ...
However, I'd like to know how could we get the username based on LastName and Given name please?

Hi, I'm trying to map a vi editor key to some commands. I'm using HP-UX 11.11. the command looks like

Hello - I have a script which creates a NIS user on Solaris machine. Before creating the user I check if the user being created laready exists or not using ypmatch and use $? to get the exit code. I've recently published a set of tools that allow you to continue to use the ypwhich, ypcat and ypmatch tools in an environment where NIS maps have been migrated to LDAP using the RFC2307 schema.
