I am trying to pass a regular expression variable from a simple script to sed
to remove entries from a text file
e.g.
a='aaaa bbbb cccc ...|...:'
then executing sed from the script
sed s'/"'$a"'//g <$FILE > $FILE"_"1
my output file is always the same as the input file !!

In directory "inoutfiles", I have folders fold0001, fold0002 and so on. Every folder has corresponding file file0001.txt, file0002.txt and so on. I want to perform a certain action on multiple files in one go. The cpp file is in the same directory as "inoutfiles".

How could I use the env command to change the enviroment variable GREP_OPTIONS so that grep is not case sensitive by setting it to "-i'?
So that the command:
grep a <<< A
Will produce the same output as
grep -i a <<< A (8 Replies)
