What does `?` mean for "who -T" ?

What does `?` mean for "who -T" ?
Hi All,
When we use the command "who" with option "-T" then all the users information who are logged in will bew displayed regarding whether they have set the message permission or not.

+ indicates permission is set.
- indicates permission is not set.

I observed ? for some users . What does it mean? Can anybody please let me know.

     After each login name print a character indicating the user's
     message status:

          `+' allowing `write' messages
          `-' disallowing `write' messages
          `?' cannot find terminal device

vino thanks for that...

when i use "finger" to get same information, for the same terminal which it was `?` is now `*`.

when we use finger * indicates message option is not set.. Please confirm on this also correct me if i am wrong.

when finger * is used,

the current directory from where the command is executed,
all the contents (files) would be passed to finger as parameters.

and there would not be any fruitful information.

No Madhan... i used finger without any arguments or options ... please find time go through the thread completely then u will know what i requested..ok thank you
