Clock_getres function

Hi

clock_getres(clockid_t clock_id, struct timespec *res);

I cant understand what is the mining of the return value (*res) from clock_getres function.

1. what is that resolution ?

2. how can I use it ?

3. if clock_getres function return 999958 in *res, what its mean ?

4. when I go to sleep with clock_nanosleep for 20000000 nanoseconds and wake up after 999958 nanoseconds (with out my interrupt of signal handler) is it because of the resolution ?

Thank's

Code:
struct timespec
{
   time_t tv_sec;
   long tv_nsec;
};

tv_sec is the number of seconds
tv_nsec is the number of nanoseconds
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <unistd.h>
#include <time.h>

int
main()
{
   struct timespec  clock_resolution={0,0};
   int return_value=0;

   return_value = clock_getres(CLOCK_REALTIME, &clock_resolution);

   printf("Clock resolution is %d seconds, %ld nanoseconds\n",
        clock_resolution.tv_sec, clock_resolution.tv_nsec);

   return 0;
}

output on my desktop is:
Code:
Clock resolution is 0 seconds, 1000000 nanoseconds

compile and run the code. Then come back with more questions.

Hi
I run it and get 0 seconds and get 999958
what it means ?

and what your results means ?

is there a relation between the results of clock_getres and the number of nanos clock_nanosleep can sleep ?
