MLD6QUERY(8) BSD System Manager's Manual MLD6QUERY(8)NAME
mld6query -- send multicast listener query
SYNOPSIS
mld6query [-dr] intface [maddr]
DESCRIPTION
mld6query sends an IPv6 multicast listener discovery (MLD) query packet toward the specified multicast address, maddr, toward interface
intface. If you omit maddr, linklocal all nodes multicast address(ff02::1) is used.
After sending a query, mld6query waits for replies for at most 10 seconds. If a reply is returned, mld6query prints it with its type and
then waits for another reply.
This program is provided only for debugging. It is not necessary for normal use.
With -d, mld6query will transmit MLD done packet instead of MLD query packet. With -r, similarly, MLD report packet will be transmitted.
-dr options are for debugging purposes only.
EXIT STATUS
The program exits 0 on success, and >0 on failures.
HISTORY
The mld6query command first appeared in WIDE/KAME IPv6 protocol stack kit.
BUGS
mld6query does not take care of multicast addresses which have non link-local scope.

mcfirst - check if you can receive IPv4/IPv6 multicast
SYNOPSIS
mcfirst [ -46vr ] [ -I interface ] [ -c count ] [ -t time ] [ source ] group port
DESCRIPTION
mcfirst can be used to check whether one can receive multicast packets from a host. The host may send any type of multicast packets, any
application, IPv4 or IPv6, ASM or SSM. mcfirst joins the specified (source) and group, and listens to the specified port. mcfirst will by
default exit when the first packet is received, and print how long it waited.
OPTIONS
The options are as follows.
-4 Force IPv4
-6 Force IPv6
-v Print version
-r Print rate information only
-I interface
Interface to join on
-c count
Stop after receiving count packets. Default is 1 unless time limit is specified
-t time
Exit after time seconds. Default is to exit after the first packet. If both count and time are specified, mcfirst will exit as soon
as one of them is satisfied.

BUGS
Please report them to Stig Venaas <venaas@uninett.no>, the author of this tool.
HISTORY
mcfirst was developed by Stig Venaas during the early days of the m6bone, the IPv6 multicast backbone.

I have seen some misinformation regarding Unix file permissions. I will try to set the record straight. Take a look at this example of some output from ls:
$ ls -ld /usr/bin /usr/bin/cat
drwxrwxr-x 3 root bin 8704 Sep 23 2004 /usr/bin

I have a file which looks roughly like this:

996 xxxxxxxxxxxxx
99600 ssssssssss
9964 fffffffffffff
and would like to sort it numerically on the first field. I tried:
sort -nr --key=1 ....
The output I get is:

Suppose I have a main() function with only one malloc statement allocating say some 1 gb memory. Also say my system has 1 gb of ram.
main()
{
malloc(1gb)
return(0)
}
The program above exits without freeing the memory.
In this case will the 1 gb of heap memory be returned... (9 Replies)
I'm trying to install a PGX32 video card on my Sparc 10 Ultra running Solaris 10.

Hey All,
Quick question...
I'm writing a short script to check if a continuous port is running on a server.
I'm using "ps -ef | grep -v grep | grep processName" and I was wondering if it was better/more reliable to just check the
return code from the command or if its better to pipe to... (12 Replies)
I installed NetBSD 6.1.2 amd64 and can't find the apm utility. Is it not in the base system?
Is it necessary to recompile the default amd64 kernel to use apm?

Hi,
I am learning shell scripting for the first time. I use AT&T Korn Shell, Version AJM 93u+ 2012-08-01, compiled from source on NetBSD.
So far I have managed to set up what I think is a useful and pleasing shell prompt, which can be seen in the image attached to this post.
The prompt is... (2 Replies)
Hey gang, I have a list of times I need to sum up. This list can vary from a few to a few thousand entries.
