mkfifo - make FIFOs (named pipes)
SYNOPSIS
mkfifo [OPTION]... NAME...
DESCRIPTION
Create named pipes (FIFOs) with the given NAMEs.
Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too.
-m, --mode=MODE
set file permission bits to MODE, not a=rw - umask
-Z, --context=CTX
set the SELinux security context of each NAME to CTX
--help display this help and exit
--version
output version information and exit

Gurus,
I did my research (on google, this site and my local library) but I am *still* lost. I am trying to teach myself about `named pipes` playing around with MKFIFO (Why not?).
(1) It seems MKNOD is reserved to ROOT whereas MKFIFO is accessible to all users. Am I correct? If the answer is... (20 Replies)
The following code does not work (zsh, Solaris), but works without the first line (files instead of pipes) :confused:
mkfifo p1 p2
echo "Hello" | tee p1 > p2 &
paste p1 p2
I would high appreciate any help to fix it. (9 Replies)
