sync - Synchronize cached writes to persistent storage
SYNOPSIS
sync [OPTION] [FILE]...
DESCRIPTION
Synchronize cached writes to persistent storage
If one or more files are specified, sync only them, or their containing file systems.
-d, --data
sync only file data, no unneeded metadata
-f, --file-system
sync the file systems that contain the files
--help display this help and exit
--version
output version information and exit

Persistence guarantees vary per system. See the system calls below for more details.

Hello,
anyone knows whats the best way to sync dirs on local systems?
i found dirssync at sourceforge, but it requires python and i cant install that on some systems.
any other advices? prefered free ones ;) (1 Reply)
I have a directory called UNIX 1 which contains 2 files and uploaded into two different servers. Now I want to check whether the directory contains both the files. If not, then need to sync the directory.
Please let me know how to do that in shell scripting. (2 Replies)

I want to remove a directory recursively except the inside directories calles .SYNC (designsync dirs) I am looking for something like:
\rm -rf < find . * | grep -v .SYNC
The find works ok but I do not know how to redirect it.
Please help.

Hi gurus
I am trying to compile coreutils for studying purposes. I downloaded package (exact version which target system already contains) and tried following:
./configure
make
but compiling ands with some header file dependency problem. Then I tried compile particular binary
