I suggest building it from the source
tarball instead of the source
RPM.
RPM's are infamous for having very brittle, picky dependencies. Compatible libraries aren't good enough, if they're not the
exact ones it was expecting it will throw up. I've fought with
kernel source that demanded a specific libc...
Building it from a source tarball will mean it won't be installed with your usual package manager, though, or any package manager really. Be sure to keep a list of what files it installs where.
