Slow Login

Hi All,

I have problem when i write my user name to login to my server late (about 10 min) to give me field of password
if u know how i can solve it?

1. Check the dns and netmask settings on the server.
2. If that doesn't work, try forcing the network interface to the spedd and duplex settings of the network using ndd.

Usually 1 above is the culprit for this.

We have the same problem before and if the system that you are logging in from not was in the dns it took very long time to login, we put the source system in the local /etc/hosts file and that solved the problem.

Another culprit could be a non-responsive nfs server.

Adding to the DNS response, check your resolv.conf on the server, if you have any 'dns/search' entries, check your box can actually access them..
